Scrumptious White Bean Dip with Cannellini Beans and Paprika

Looking for a creamy, flavourful dip that’s perfect for any occasion? This white bean dip, made with cannellini beans and a hint of paprika, is a delightful alternative to traditional dips. Not only is it incredibly easy to whip up, but it’s also versatile and can be paired with a variety of dishes. Best of all, this recipe doesn’t require lemon, making it ideal for those who prefer a milder tartness.

Ingredients:

  • 400g can of cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil, plus extra for drizzling
  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika, plus extra for garnish
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • A small handful of fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Water, as needed for desired consistency

Equipment:

  • Food processor or blender
  • Serving bowl

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beans: Start by draining and rinsing the cannellini beans. This not only removes the excess sodium but also helps in achieving a smoother texture for the dip.
  2. Bring beans to a boil: I like to cook my beans in water and throw in a stock cube. Its not required but I find it gives a better taste.
  3. Blend the Ingredients: In a food processor or blender, combine the cannellini beans, minced garlic, olive oil, smoked paprika, and ground cumin. Blend until the mixture is smooth. If the dip is too thick, add water a tablespoon at a time until you reach your desired consistency.
  4. Season: Taste the dip and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Adjust the seasoning as needed to suit your palate.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Transfer the dip to a serving bowl. Drizzle with a little olive oil and sprinkle a pinch of smoked paprika on top for an extra touch of flavour and colour. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley to add a fresh contrast to the smoky and creamy dip.
  6. Serving Suggestions: This dip is incredibly versatile and can be served with toasted pita bread, fresh vegetable sticks, or as part of a mezze platter. It also makes a fantastic spread for sandwiches or wraps.

Nutritional Benefits:

Cannellini beans are not only delicious but are also packed with protein and fibre, making this dip a nutritious choice. The addition of olive oil contributes healthy fats, while the spices add antioxidants without overwhelming the palate.

This white bean dip with cannellini beans and paprika is a perfect example of how simple ingredients can be transformed into a delicious and healthy dish. Whether you’re hosting a party, looking for a new lunch option, or just need a quick snack, this dip is sure to satisfy. It’s easy to make, packed with flavour, and can be customized to your liking. Give it a try and enjoy a taste of something truly special.
