You don’t have to prep everything. Just the things that make life easier.
Meal prep sounds like a dream—neatly labelled containers, a fridge full of answers, a calm and collected version of you come dinner time.
But then reality hits. Kids interrupt. The kitchen explodes. You forget to defrost the chicken. And suddenly, meal prep feels less “life hack” and more hard pass.
That’s where realistic meal prep comes in.
🍽 Start Small, Win Big
You don’t need to spend five hours prepping everything you’ll eat all week.
Start with what stresses you out the most.
- Is it breakfast? Prep that.
- School lunches? Set them up.
- Dinners always a scramble? Just do the chopping.
- Snacks always disappear? Make some backups now.
🧺 What I Do on a Sunday (In 1 Hour or Less)
Here’s my go-to, real-life prep session:
✅ Chop 2–3 types of veggies (e.g. carrots, pumpkin, capsicum)
✅ Cook a double batch of brown rice or quinoa
✅ Boil a few eggs
✅ Portion yoghurt or oats for the kids’ breakfasts
✅ Roast chickpeas or prep bliss balls for snacks
✅ Make one freezer-friendly dinner (even just a sauce or tray bake base)
No pressure to finish it all—just enough to set the tone for the week ahead.
🍱 The Secret? You’re Not Trying to Win at Prep
You’re just trying to stop Wednesday-you from panicking. You’re building a little buffer between your future self and the next dinner meltdown.
Because when Monday hits and you realise half the dinner is already done? That’s a win.
Welcome to Meal Prep Sundays
Every week I’ll share tips, recipes, and realistic ways to prep ahead—whether it’s for gut health, busy school days, or just keeping your fridge from turning into a stress zone.
