Mum Breakfasts: Prep and Eat (Even If It’s On the Go or at Your Desk)

Mum Breakfasts: Prep and Eat (Even If It’s On the Go or at Your Desk)

Mornings don’t always look the way we imagine them.

They’re not slow, quiet, or perfectly organised.

They’re busy, a bit rushed, and often centred around getting everyone else sorted before you’ve even thought about yourself.

Which is why breakfast can easily get skipped — or replaced with a coffee and something quick that doesn’t quite do the job.

But it doesn’t need to be complicated.

With a little bit of prep (and a realistic approach), breakfast can be simple, quick, and something that actually helps you feel better — even if you’re eating it on the go or in front of your laptop.

Why Breakfast Matters (Without Overthinking It)

This isn’t about following strict rules or forcing yourself to eat early.

It’s about giving your body:

  • a steady start
  • more stable energy
  • something that helps you avoid the mid-morning crash

Especially if your gut has been a bit off, starting the day with something simple and consistent can make a big difference.

The Reality: It Needs to Be Easy

If breakfast takes too long, it won’t happen.

So the focus here is:

  • minimal prep
  • easy to grab
  • simple to eat anywhere

Think:
👉 kitchen bench
👉 car
👉 desk

Not:
❌ sit-down, perfectly plated meals

🍞 2. Toast + Protein

Sourdough or wholegrain toast with:

  • eggs
  • cottage cheese
  • avocado

👉 Quick, warm, and satisfying.

🥤 3. Smoothie (Keep It Simple)

Milk, yoghurt, frozen fruit, oats or flax.

👉 Drink it in the car, at your desk, or while doing everything else.

🍳 4. Prep Ahead Eggs

Boiled eggs or a simple egg slice made in advance.

👉 Grab, eat, done.

🥜 5. Yoghurt + Nuts + Fruit

No prep needed beyond assembling.

👉 A good option when time is tight but you still want something balanced.

🍪 6. Something Homemade (When You Have It)

Things like:

  • banana oat cookies
  • muffins
  • simple slices

👉 Not everyday — but helpful to have on hand.

When Your Gut Feels Off in the Morning

Mornings can be when things feel most unpredictable.

If that’s the case:

  • keep things simple
  • avoid overloading your system
  • stick to foods you know feel okay

You don’t need to get it perfect — just consistent.

A Simple Way to Make It Work

Instead of trying to reinvent breakfast every day:

👉 pick 2–3 options
👉 rotate them through the week

This removes decision fatigue and makes it far more likely you’ll actually eat something.

A Better Way to Start the Day

Breakfast doesn’t need to be perfect.

It just needs to:

  • happen
  • be simple
  • work for your life

And over time, those small, consistent choices add up.

Want a Bit More Structure?

If food has been feeling a bit inconsistent or hard to manage, this is usually where I start.

Simple meals.
Less guesswork.
A bit more structure.

If you want help building that across your whole day, I go through it step-by-step in my 6-week reset starting June 1.
